Employees working with the SIA have been investigating concerns of potential backpay. This week a positive step was seen with YMCA making a public statement of accepting the underpayment of swimming teachers. 

Swimming teachers and lifeguards across YMCA Victoria have decided to come together to ensure the larger collective can be represented properly. They want to ensure that the right questions are being asked and have been working with the SIA to organise staff.
